Named amongst America’s top doctors by Castle Connolly, and top doctor in Indianapolis by Indianapolis Monthly for the past six years, Dr. Marc Gerdisch is an experienced cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon. He has built a medical career through establishing partnerships with other physicians, and his patients, emphasizing open and clear communication, and pioneering surgical techniques and procedures.
Since 1994, he has served as senior partner at Cardiac Surgery Associates, and runs the second largest practice in the program, providing care at 24 hospitals in Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. Since 2006, Dr. Marc Gerdisch has also served as head of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Franciscan St. Francis Health, there he has doubled the volume of cardiovascular surgeries, and increased the capacity of the hospital to care for high-risk patients.
Over his tenure he has also redesigned the hospital’s vascular care programs to ensure the highest quality of care, and best outcomes for his patients. Alongside his career as a surgeon, Dr. Gerdisch is an active and engaged community member. Since 2012 he has served as a member of the Indianapolis board of directors for the American Heart Association, and served as mission chair for the Association’s 2014 Indianapolis Heart Walk. Additionally, he also serves on the executive committee of the 21st Century Cardiothoracic Surgical Society and was elected president of the society in 2011 and 2012.
